Share in our spirit of giving this Christmas!

In recent years myVillage has carried on its tradition of giving something back to the community. This year, we have taken that to a higher level.

myVILLAGE CHRISTMAS LIGHT UP 2013

On top of our annual light-up and more recently our member’s only appreciation dinner, myVillage was transformed into a donation centre for Club Rainbow (Singapore), where the shoppers were invited to gift wrap presents for the children of the charity, and donate items that they would like to give as gifts to them. Edward Chye, owner of myVillage, explained the focus for the mall, “myVillage is part of the community. We are a mall that believes in sharing, just like you would share with your family. And because of that we believe in participating in the spirit of giving. And this allows us to do it in a big way.”

It was an evening of joy and laughter as regular shoppers and new guests shared in the occasion of the annual myVillage light-up. This year, almost 300 people were able to experience the community spirit as myVillage kicked off its Christmas celebrations with the member’s appreciation dinner on the roof. This is double the number from last year, as part of our efforts to make sure we are able to bring more people together.

Realising that the true meaning of this festive season can sometimes be lost in the heady rush of consumerism, Consulus, the brand agency for myVillage, made sure that myVilage was careful to stick to the true spirit of Christmas.

“We’ve always aimed for myVillage to be a warm, welcoming space, not just a faceless mall. We plan things like this to bring people together, turning this into a true Community space. Our strategy is to make the space meaningful to everyone that comes into Serangoon Garden.” said Kenneth Lee, Senior Manager, Social Strategy.

Guests of myVillage can still leave their well-wishes within the mall by picking up and writing on special tags that they can then hang around the mall, on the several Christmas trees within. Tags can be found at our Customer Service Counter.

myVillage looks forward to continuing the tradition of unity and community involvement for years to come.
